چکیده

We investigate magnetic correlations and local magnetic moments at finite temperatures of some Fe and Co multilayers on Cu(100) substrates, such as Co(m)Fe(n)Co(m)/Cu(100) and Fe(m)Co(n)Fe(m)/Cu(100). We use an ab initio mean-field theory of magnetic fluctuations for layered materials based on the first-principles local spin-density functional theory implemented through the screened Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method. We find that the presence of Fe layers in the neighbourhood of a Co layer always leads to a reduction in the magnetic moment of the Co atoms, whereas that of the Fe atoms is enhanced. Of particular interest is the lack of local moment formation on the single fcc-Co layer sandwiched between two fcc-Fe layers. However, a Co layer completely immersed in a Cu environment remains ferromagnetic. The Curie temperature of the Co(m)Fe(n)Co(m)/Cu(100) system oscillates as the Fe layer thickness is increased whereas that of the Fe(m)Co(n)Fe(m)/Cu(100) system increases almost monotonically with Co layer thickness.

Investigation of effect of magnetic ordering on structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) using ab initio method

Structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu)  were studied  for each of three magnetic configurations nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic by using density functional theory in generalized gradient approximations (GGA) and strong correlation correction (GGA + U). Due to magnetic transition from antiferromagnetic to nonmagnetic phase, an electr...

Exchange Coupling and Magnetization Profiles of Binary and Ternary Magnetic Multilayers

Within a spin-polarized LMTO approach in the Atomic-Sphere approximation we calculate ab initio the magnetic properties of various binary and ternary multilayers composed of Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, V and Cu. The emphasis lies on the indirect exchange interaction of the magnetic sandwiches across the antiferromagnetic or non-magnetic spacers, and on the profiles of the intrinsic resp. induced magnetic m...

Surface effects of ordering in binary alloys

This article reviews the most important achievements in the studies of the compositional (chemical) and magnetic ordering effects in the surface region of single-crystal binary alloys with different bulk structures. These alloys include the non-magnetic and magnetic concentrated substitutional binary systems which have a tendency to ordering (Au–Cu, Cu–Pt, Fe–Pt, Co–Fe, Fe–Ni, Al–Fe, Al–Ni, Pt–...

Effect of Cobalt Concentration on Structural and Magnetic Properties of Co-Fe Thin Films

Co-Fe films were electrodeposited on Cu substrate from electrolytes with different Co concentration  levels. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used  to  investigate  the  films  crystal  structures. The Effect of Cu Impurity on the CO-dissociation Mechanism on the Fe (100) Surface: A Full Potential DFT Study

In this study, the theoretical calculations of CO dissociation were carried out on Cu-Fe alloy surface by a full-potential method, which made more accurate results especially on the prediction of adsorption energies. This process may be governed by either a direct route or a H-assisted via HCO and COH intermediates pathways. In comparison to the pure surface Fe (100), the presence of Cu atom en...
